exhibition: Peter Ronai, Lubo Stacho, Marek Kvetan, Aneta Mona Chisa, Erik Binder, Ivor Diosi, Erik Sille, Cyril Blazo, Boris Sirka (sk) The project is a research probe into today’s visual culture in Slovakia. Using a selection of authors and works, the project will introduce actual guises of media images in a wider spectrum (from documentary to manipulated photography, computer prints, slides, video, DVD, site-specific works and so on). On the other hand we are interested in how and what pictures are coproduced through electronic and digital media. Of central importance is the desire to demonstrate, using specific works, which symbols, themes and stories are preferred in current techno-pictures, which international and local codes figure prominently on the Slovak scene, and which politico-social themes are in play. The project is also based on an internal dialogue between the participating artists - personalities responsible for the profiling the image of our environment in the 1990s and authors of a young and upcoming generation who are only just, at the turn of the century, defining their artistic program. The exhibition project bezOBRAZie should, in the end, contribute to up-to-date artistic language in Slovakia and to the stimulation of authentic expressions in current visual culture.
